Dreier AG breaks ground for Electric Park 2.0 in Egerkingen
Sep 3, 2026 at 11:36 AMThe Nordic logistics company Nowaste Logistics has become the first company in the world to implement AutoCase™ technology from AutoStore™ in one of its logistics terminals. This solution, which was presented in the fall of 2025, is supplied and installed by Swisslog.
Efficient storage of goods
Patrik Johnfors, Head of Solution Design & Implementation at Nowaste Logistics, describes AutoCase™ as a solution that reduces manual processes and increases efficiency as well as storage density in the company’s highly automated logistics operations. In the terminal in question, large quantities of clothing are processed, which are delivered in boxes from Asia. Upon arrival, these boxes must first be temporarily stored before being integrated into the facility’s AutoStore system and picked there.
Johnfors explains that the delivery of goods for new collections often occurs weeks before the actual delivery. To ensure stock for an entire season, which can last up to six months, the boxes are stored on pallets in shelves. These processes require extensive manual buffer management to refill the boxes as needed or to introduce them into the system.
With the introduction of the AutoCase™ solution, Nowaste Logistics will be able to efficiently store the boxes in the AutoStore system upon goods receipt. This allows for direct delivery of the boxes as complete units or their forwarding to picking stations for processing individual orders.
Expansion of automation possibilities
Giulia Colombi, CEO EMEA at Swisslog, expresses positive sentiments about the collaboration with Nowaste Logistics: “We are very pleased that Nowaste Logistics is the first AutoStore customer to pilot AutoCase™. The company shows openness to innovations and enjoys testing new solutions to question existing workflows and optimize processes.” Colombi emphasizes that the AutoCase technology represents an important advancement as it expands the application possibilities of the AutoStore technology. By automating the handling of boxes directly in the AutoStore system, new workflows are supported that offer customers a higher level of automation and flexibility.
The installation of the solution at Nowaste Logistics‘ terminal took place in the summer, and it is currently being tested with various types and sizes of boxes before transitioning to regular operation.
